Restaurant-bakery

idea

Pechorin is an existing Moscow bakery that produces baked goods and artisan bread designed for a discerning audience. In connection with the new brand position, emerging restaurant menu and service, and the opening of new bakeries, we were tasked with developing an identity for Pechorin, which strives to become even more elegant. The mission of the Pechorin brand is to become a landmark of Moscow and a culinary and cultural center of Russia. Now it is a restaurant-bakery, a culinary tastes explorer, a romantic of the new era, who is self-confident and knows what he wants. We created an identity about craftsmanship and ambition. Based on the nature of the new brand and the specifics of the products, we developed a display font with three different styles, a variable text font for the menu and logo, and a symbol font to draw attention to the bakery products. The design and character of the letters are inspired by the process of cutting the dough, the baked bread itself, the plasticity of the ingredients, the bold shapes and taste of the dishes created in Pechorin. When thinking about the logo and type design and keeping in mind the brand mission, we thought about the historical heritage and traditions of Russian and Soviet graphics of the 1920s. In the character of the letters, we can see the plastic features of the works of the creator of the "Soviet Empire" style, Sergei Chekhonin. We were inspired by his works. In the first version of the identity, the Pechorin display font was developed with the Square, Oval and Circle styles (96 glyphs). The final version of the Pechorin identity, which has been finalized, contains the Rubilowo Display font (160 glyphs), the Rubilowo Text variable text font (144 glyphs and 4 styles) and the Rubilowo Symbol symbol font (104 glyphs). In total, more than 500 original graphic units were drawn for the Pechorin restaurant and bakery
