Trailblazer, the first female creative director at Dentsu, an advocate of Japanese Kawaii culture, and sake sommelier, Masako has several phrases depicting herself.
After some years of AD-ventures in Vietnam and Philippines, she has just established her own creative boutique WOKASHI: WOKASHI is an ancient Japanese word that means fun, kawaii, interesting, amazing, etc. Masako provides the keys to cross-cultural communication for clients via advertisement, lecture, and offsite event. Gender gap is the big issue in Japan, and she supports gender education at several universities.
Masako’s works for TOYOTA, Ad Council, Suntory, Thai Airways Int’l, Shizuoka Broadcasting System and Ginebra San Miguel have been recognized in many awards, including Cannes, Clio, New York Festivals, Spikes, LIAs, and Adfest. She has judged for One Show, Clio, ADC, YoungGuns, Adfest, Cannes, Effies, AdStars, and many regional awards.
She has published books: ”How to be a copywriter” in Japan and “Career Operation” in Korea. During the pandemic, she moved to the coastal area and took up surfing while enjoying the view of Mt. Fuji.
