Danette Breitenbach is the Managing Editor for Bizcommunity, a South Africa-based online news publisher catering to business audiences across 19 industries in Africa. She is also the co-editor for the media and marketing portal. .

In 2024 Bizcommunity was named the Bookmark Awards Best Publisher. As a seasoned marketing communications practitioner, who has worked on a freelance basis for over 20 years, she has covered a myriad of industries and sectors, from mining to exports to marketing.

She has judged awards including the Prism Awards and Bookmark Awards as well as facilitated many panels with top experts in the marketing and media industry and is a co-host of the podcast, The Lead Creative.

In 2018 Danette completed her master’s in financial journalism at Wits with her thesis, a long form journalism piece, on Social and Labour Plans in the (gold) mining industry.  

She is a qualified yoga teacher and has been teaching the practice for nearly a decade. In her free time, she competes in HYROX and similar events, and also teaches strength & conditioning.
